The Nylons at Fitchburg Days with Liquid Courage

Sun, May 22, 2016 at 4pm

This event has passed.

This is your last chance ever to see The Nylons, and this is their farewell tour. After nearly 40 years, they have chosen to pack it in, and Fitchburg will be one of the last stops on the US tour. Join us for a fabulous afternoon of fun, music, and humor!

The Nylons are an a cappella group founded in 1978 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Best known for their covers of The Turtles' "Happy Together", Steam's "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye", and The Tokens' version of the traditional "The Lion Sleeps Tonight". With seven gold and platinum recordings and over three million albums sold, this four- member vocal group is one of Canada’s top international success stories - they have become a global institution and a legend in the world of vocal music. The group has performed over 1000 concerts in dozens of tours worldwide including Japan, Korea, China, Australia, Europe, Brazil, the US, and Canada.

Liquid Courage’s name started with 4 men sitting at a local tavern wondering if the patrons might enjoy a tune from a group that had only sung a handful of times together. With some nervousness, they agreed to try some liquid courage and give it a whirl. The feedback was delightful and contagious. From that day on, when feeling a bit anxious, they merely exclaim, “Liquid Courage” and refuse to let nerves get the better of them.

This performance is at Fitchburg Days, which is an outdoor community festival. The show will go rain or shine, however dangerous weather in the area could cause a delay or early ending of the show. This will be held in a tent, and while there are a few tables and chairs away from the stage, no seats will be permitted for the first 100 feet in front of the stage. It will be standing room only. All ticket sales are final.

The outdoor temperature should be taken into consideration as you plan to attend.

FAQs

Is the festival accessible?

Our festival is held in a city park. There are no stairs, and we have accessible toilets on site. We will set aside an area for wheelchairs, however, we request that you email ahead of the event so we can properly plan for space. Since this is in a park, weather can be an issue, and in the case of rain, the area inside the tent can become muddy. This can make wheelchair mobility difficult, so please plan for that possibility.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

Beer is served in the tent, and wristbands will identify those over 21.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

Parking is available on residential streets. Premium parking is available through a different Eventbrite event.

What can/can't I bring to the event?

You may bring service animals, but please email ahead so we can plan for this. The tent will be full, so your animal must be comfortable in a crowd.

Prohibited items in Main Stage Tent:
Laser pointers
Illegal substances
Weapons of any kind
Carry in alcoholic beverages
Signs of any kind
Threatening apparel
Chairs, beach chairs, or lawn furniture
Framed or large backpacks
Glass containers of any kind
Bicycles, scooters, or skateboards
Frisbees or other toys intended to be thrown
Audio and/or video recording equipment

Security and the Fitchburg Police Department will be present, and those carrying in prohibited items will be removed from the park. Food and drink are available for purchase on site.

Fitchburg Days supports diversity, however words or images that threaten harm to others are not welcome at the festival. The festival reserves the right to eject people who create an unsafe or intolerant environment.

Anyone removed from the park because of a violation of this section will not be entitled to a refund.

Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?

What is the refund policy?

Tickets purchases for all Festival events are non-refundable. Concerts take place rain or shine, unless conditions endanger the safety of artists and the public. If inclement weather prohibits the headlining act from performing, the concert may be delayed indefinitely until conditions that have prohibited the concert have passed and the stage has been set.

The Festival reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel any event due to storm, power outage, flood, war, civil unrest, fire, earthquake or any other circumstance deemed beyond the Festival's control. If an event is cancelled and the Festival is unable to re-schedule it, advance tickets will be partially refunded through Isthmus Tickets. Refunds will not be issued due to weather unless the show is canceled in its entirety due to extreme circumstances that involved evacuating the audience and/or the headlining performer completing fewer than 30 minutes of the scheduled performance. If the event can be re-scheduled, the Festival will offer replacement tickets to that event. Fitchburg Days’ only liability for a cancelled concert shall be to partially refund the ticket purchase price.

Fitchburg Days reserves the right to change the location of a concert and to reschedule the date of a concert. Changes to the location or date of the concert do not entitle the ticket holder to a refund.

Be prepared for extremes such as heat, wind or rain.
